With growth comes a pressing need for more real estate, expanded facilities and a long-term building plan. Ten years ago, as a result of intense strategic planning, Norfolk Christian confirmed the necessity for a multiple-phase Capital Campaign to continue to meet the needs of the present and embrace the challenges of the future. The generous response of our caring constituency – more than $23 million in gifts and pledges to date -- has enabled us to renew and expand all permanent facilities (some were over 40 years old), complete a new lower school campus, a new upper school gym and athletic facility, a new middle school addition, and a new academic wing featuring a dining hall, kitchen, library, seminar room and classrooms. This completed Phases I and II of the campaign. On December 6, 2005, Phase III of the building and capital campaign was introduced at a school-wide event in Smith Gym. With groundbreaking in the spring of 2006, this phase includes a new high school wing, renovated middle school, expanded administrative space and new grand atrium entrance. Phase III requires over $8 million in new gifts and pledges. Phase IV is anticipated to follow with a performing arts center. In August 2007 the Norfolk Christian Community gathered to dedicate the Taylor Academic Center and Phase III of the building plan. Students, teachers and staff are now benefiting from these modern and safe facilities. Teaching is taking place on SmartBoards®, located in every new classroom. Students are using three new technology labs, a physical science lab and spacious art room. The Hinshaw Chapel is inspirational, overlooking a natural environment of God’s creation in perfect balance.
