Ambassador term (“A-term”) takes place between the high school semesters immediately following Christmas vacation. During this term, high school students can choose from one of three options: 1) two mini-courses offered on campus, 2) internships off campus, or 3) trips of an educational, service, or missions variety. The purpose of A-term is to give students an opportunity to explore their interests and cultivate their God-given gifts. For more information, click on the documents in the left-hand margin.
During A-term, high school students can choose from a variety of special course offerings. Morning courses require academic preparation and receive a grade. Afternoon courses are practical in nature and are graded pass/fail. Courses are taught by high school faculty and guest instructors from the parent and educational community. Sample courses include nanotechnology, ceramics, guitar for worship, worldview in movies, and photojournalism. Course registration takes place in the fall. If you have an idea for a course or instructor, please contact A-term director, Joel Uecker.
During A-term, a junior or senior may elect to complete an internship in a career field of their choice. Interns are assessed pass/fail based on their completion of a daily log and written reflection paper. For more information on policies and procedures for our interns, click on the documents in the left-hand margin. If you are interested in hosting an intern at your place of employment or have an internship proposal for your child, please select the appropriate document from the left-hand margin and send to A-term internship coordinator, Steve Doyle.
During A-term, high school students may select an educational, service, missions, or athletics trip. Trips are planned and guided either by Joshua Expeditions, a non-denominational Christian travel agency, or by NCS faculty (see www.joshuaexpeditions.org for more info). Each trip is sponsored by a high school faculty chaperone. Students who go on trips will be assessed pass/fail by a written reflection paper. For more information on trips, including specific itineraries, please click on the documents in the left-hand margin. Contact A-term trip coordinator, Angie deMik with further questions or to turn in your trip registration.
