Norfolk Christian would like to thank our NCS family and our extended community for the prayers and support offered during the tragedy of Mark Rodriguez’s death. As a school, we will never be the same. But I truly believe we have been confronted just as much by hope as we have been by sadness in these recent days.
Seeing Mark’s blog about heaven touch people around the country and witnessing the peace and mercy Mark's parents have shown through unspeakable grief have left an indelible mark on our staff and families. There are no words to express what has happened here, except to say that the presence of God has taken over like never before. We look forward to watching our Lord accomplish incredible things for His Kingdom through Mark’s legacy.
As we move into summer, please continue to lift the Rodriguezes and their children up before our Father. Remember our new senior class, as they prepare to return to school without their friend. And if you have not done so, please read and share the blog we have linked here. Mark wrote this just a few weeks before God took him Home and it is changing lives with each new post. In all my years of Biblical study, I have never seen a more beautiful account of what awaits us.
If you would like to encourage the Rodriguez family in a more tangible way, please follow this link to their church website. There, you will find specific ways that you may be a blessing to them, as well as a link to the Memorial Fund set up in Mark’s honor.
Thank you for holding us up in circumstances we could not have imagined. We pray that Mark’s greatest passion would be a reality for you this summer -- that you would seek to understand in a new way how greatly our Heavenly Father loves each of us.
Trusting in Him,
Head of School
