Athletic Facilities

Norfolk Christian has been blessed with exceptional athletic facilities, all housed at its Upper School campus. Students, athletes and NCS staff enjoy state-of-the-art equipment designed with their health and safety in mind.

Moore Family Field

Norfolk Christian’s Moore Family Field opened in 2017 and is one of the only organic infill artificial turf fields in the region at any level of play. The state of the art venue hosts our football, soccer, and lacrosse events and is used by numerous community groups and educational institutions in the area. Highly advanced field technology, including a water drainage system, makes the field playable year-round and the coconut husk infill keeps the turf up to 30 degrees cooler than typical crushed rubber fields during hot summer months. Grandstand bleachers seat just under 1,000 people and eight LED field lights with pin-spot focus make for a phenomenal night game experience.

Smith Gymnasium

Added to the Athletic Complex in 2003, the Smith Gym is one of the premier gyms in Hampton Roads and a staple for TCIS tournament games. The seating capacity, high ceiling, and spacious court space make it an attractive venue for both conference and state tournaments each year. Many outside teams use the Smith Gym for practices and weekend tournaments when it is not in use by Norfolk Christian teams.

Carlson Strength & Conditioning Center

Brand new in 2018, the Carlson Strength and Conditioning Center is an official Hammer Strength Training Center, equipped from wall-to-wall with Hammer Strength equipment. The weight room is centered around functional fitness which caters to the all-around athlete and is spacious enough to support full team use. The facility’s state-of-the-art equipment is enhanced by the Volt Athletics Training App. Volt offers exclusive, self-guided student workouts that come from The Volt team, staffed with CSCS certified strength coaches and sports medicine doctors. This training program services many collegiate and professional programs including elite teams like the Seattle Seahawks and Clemson Tigers.

Batting Cages and Practice Infield

The batting cages at NCS allow our baseball and softball players to get year-round work in to perfect their craft. We have two full cages with L-screens, tees, and front-end pitching mounds. Along the side of the cages are multiple hitting pockets to allow for more tee and soft toss work. Field lights allow for longer cage sessions.
