Four Athletes Sign for Collegiate Play

It was a banner day for NCS student-athletes as four seniors signed their Letters of Intent to play collegiate sports: Ty Johnson, baseball, Roanoke College; Rilee Jones, softball, Barton College; Gardner Meeks, baseball, Roanoke College; and Sebastian Silva, baseball, Virginia Military Institute. We are so proud of these seniors and their dedication to both school and their sport!

Visual Arts Quarterly Magazine

See the NCVA Visual Arts Quarterly for a student-designed magazine highlighting what our art department has been working on during the first quarter. From our yearly Advanced Art trip to Sandbridge to second graders with fishy hand art, there’s a little bit of everything in this quarterly update!

Beach Campus Opens New Playground

Virginia Beach Lower School families celebrated the opening of their new playground this weekend with a fun event that included food, a DJ and a bounce house! The replacement playground was completed in September and is already a huge hit with students. With a separate preschool area, state-of-the-art equipment and plenty of room to run, it is a welcome addition to recess!

Middle School Artists Awarded at State Fair

A big shout-out to Britni, Elizabeth, Lily, Ryleigh and Avery, who all had artwork exhibited at the 2019 Virginia State Fairgrounds. Congratulations to middle schoolers Avery and Lily for taking the first and third place scholarships for their age group in the 2D Fine Arts competition!  We are proud of all of these talented artists, and thankful for teachers Mrs. Rimmer and Ms. Ray for their exceptional training and mentorship.

Five NCS Seniors Receive National Merit Commendations

Upper School Director Mr. Ashworth had the privilege of informing four seniors that they had received Letters of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program for outstanding scores on the PSAT taken during junior year. Mary Powell, Ellie Via, Nathan Manning and Douglas McGowan were all selected for Commendations based on their exceptional performance on the PSAT, the Qualifying Test for the National Merit Scholarship program.  A fifth senior, Kathryn Stougard, received the news from the school she attended last year while her family was in Japan! More than 1.5 million juniors took the 2018 preliminary SAT and our five Ambassadors scored in the top 3%! We are so proud of these hard-working young men and women and can’t wait to see how God uses them and the gifts He has given them for His Kingdom.
