Show Choir Wins First Place!

Our High School Show Choir was amazing at the Show Choir Competition at Powhatan High School over the weekend. They won FIRST place as a group, as well as Best Costumes, and Best Show Design, in which they are undefeated in this competition! Elana Lapetina won Best Soloist and wowed the crowd receiving multiple standing ovations, while Franciyanna Freeman won the Showmanship Award. Congratulations to this incredible group of performers and to Mrs. Nachtigal who gives her heart and soul to them!

Ambassador Micayah Holland is the Fastest 8th Grader in the Country!

Eighth grader Micayah Holland took 1st place in the 55m dash at the VISAA Indoor Track Championship held on February 16th. Her time of 7.28 was the 2nd fastest in meet history! She blazed by high school opponents at every grade level, giving her the fastest time nationally of any 8th grader in the event this year. “Hidden Figure” Dr. Christine Darden Inspires Upper School

We were so honored to have Dr. Christine Darden speak to our Upper School as part of our Black History Month Celebration. Dr. Darden is a retired NASA mathematician, data analyst and aeronautical engineer who was the first African-American woman at NASA’s Langley Research Center to be promoted into the Senior Executive Service, the top rank in the federal civil service. She is one of the scientists featured in the recent book and film “Hidden Figures: The Story of the African-American Women Who Helped Win the Space Race.” With an introduction by current NCS mom and NASA scientist Dr. Anna McGowan, Dr. Darden encouraged our students to pursue their dreams, overcome their obstacles, and seek opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math. Her story is one of resilience, faith, perseverance, and courage. Thank you, Dr. Darden, for making time to speak life into our Ambassadors!

Seniors Nate Scully and Andrew Allgood Bring Home TCIS Wrestling Championships

It was a fantastic TCIS tournament for our Wrestling team with every wrestler medaling and Norfolk Christian being awarded the Sportsmanship award. Senior Nate Scully brought home his second consecutive championship for the 138 weight class and senior Andrew Allgood earned his first championship title for the 195 weight class. Congratulations to Coaches Ingram and Scully and this great group of young men on an outstanding season!

Four New Banners Raised in Smith Gym!

Four New Banners Raised in Smith Gym!

2018 was a banner year for our athletics department, as varsity athletes brought home a state championship and 3 TCIS conference championships. Our 2017-18 TCIS champion baseball team saw their year revealed in the rafters of the Smith Gym on Saturday, January 12th during our winter alumni day, after accomplishing something our baseball program had not seen since 1990 – both the regular season and conference championships! Alongside our baseball team was 2017-18 individual TCIS Wrestling Champion in the 120 weight class, senior Nate Scully. From the current school year, our boys volleyball team saw 2018 added to their TCIS Championship Banner and our 2018 girls tennis team watched a new State Championship banner revealed after their historic season last fall. It was an amazing night for Ambassador Athletics!
