Eight high schoolers were inducted this week into the newest Norfolk Christian Honor Society – the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica. Thank you to Mrs. Valencia for her work to bring this honor society to NCS and congratulations to these hard-working students!
Our annual Winter Alumni Day was held on Saturday, January 12, 2019, with a great time of food, conversation and basketball. A new twist on the traditional alumni basketball game pitted 20 alumni players against a team of brave NCS staff members and coaches from all three campuses. While the alum team was victorious (with the help of several former state champions), our staff gave them a good game! A special highlight was the staff cheer section who made sure things stayed lively on the floor. Thank you to all of our alumni, alumni parents and grandparents and their families for joining us. We love welcoming you back to campus!
On Saturday, January 12, 2019, Norfolk Christian’s athletic wing was officially named the Hobbs Family Athletic Complex. C. Bradford and Molly Hobbs were generous leadership contributors to the school’s recently completed capital campaign and Brad was instrumental in the unique safety design of Moore Family Field, graciously giving of his time, talent and financial resources to equip students for both academic and athletic excellence. Capital Campaign chairman Frank Batten, fellow Board of Trustees member Todd Savage, Head of School Daniel Tubbs, and Athletic Director Tim Bender honored the Hobbs family for their commitment to Norfolk Christian and to creating Ambassadors for Christ.
The Carlson Strength and Conditioning Center celebrated its Grand Opening on Saturday, January 12, 2019 during Norfolk Christian’s annual winter alumni day. The new strength-building center was a complementary phase of the Moore Family Field project during the recently completed capital campaign, made possible by a generous gift from Dr. Jeffrey and Mrs. Sandra Carlson. It boasts state-of-the-art cardio and strength-training equipment which will be a great asset to Ambassador Athletics for hundreds of student-athletes each year.
Our Norfolk and Beach Lower Schools combined to present another beautiful pageant honoring the birth of Christ today. Put together by the incomparable Mrs. Nachtigal, more than 300 Pre-K through 5th graders shared the miracle of Christmas with a packed house at Tab Church. What a wonderful way to begin Christmas break!
On December 12th, 57 10th and 11th graders along with some new seniors were inducted into the National Honor Society at the Kroc Center. Students must maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA and are further selected based on leadership, character and service. We are so proud of these Ambassadors for Christ and their diligence!
